The holidays are almost here. Do you have any specific plans for the festive season this year? Citykiddos has summarized seven fantastic, family-friendly events in Vancouver that you can check out!

Fly like Santa at FlyOver Canada

Ever wondered how it feels to be Santa Claus? Flyover Canada provides you the opportunity to find out! Fly like Santa across Canada with his leading elves, Chestnut and Pinecone. If you’re lucky, you might even get a chance to see Santa’s workshop at the North Pole.

Helpful Ticket Info: 

Prices are lower online than at the gate

Kids tickets are $10 less than the adult tickets (children must be 12 and under, at least 102cm tall to ride)

Students and seniors get $6 off with valid ID.

The Christmas show at FlyOver Canada runs from November 21, 2019 to January 5, 2020.

Vancouver Christmas Market

The Vancouver Christmas Market is an outdoor Christmas marketplace in Downtown Vancouver. It features more than 80 vendors selling various Christmas products, as well as traditional German food. You’ll have no trouble keeping the kids entertained, as the variety of food choices grows every season. Inside the marketplace, a Christmas tree twinkling with 36,000 lights and other glowing decorations creates a magical spot for family photos.

Kids (ages 6-12): $6 online and $9 at the gate

Adults (ages 13-65): $12.99

Vancouver Santa Claus Parade 2019

The 16th annual Vancouver Santa Claus Parade takes place on Sunday, December 1, 2019 on the streets of Downtown Vancouver. The parade kicks off at 12:00pm and will end around 1:30pm. Check out at least 60 marching bands, dance troupes, festive floats and community groups participating in this year’s parade. More than 300,000 spectators visit this event annually, making this the biggest winter event in Vancouver. 

In addition, spectators can get a free photo with Santa after the parade. The photo with Santa is located at Telus Gardens at 510 W Georgia St, Vancouver, BC running from around 2:00pm to 4:00pm. 

VanDusen Festival of Lights

The VanDusen Festival of Lights is an excellent place to enjoy a laid-back, festive evening with the entire family. Every year, the garden is transformed into a winter wonderland draped from one end to the other in Christmas lights. If that isn’t enough, make your way past Livingstone Lake for the “Dancing Light” show, where the lights flicker along with some of your favourite holiday tunes. Still not convinced? There’s also a carousel ride for kids. (Note: only suitable for children ages 2+ who are at least 36 inches tall. Parents are not permitted to hold children on the carousel.)

Get your picture taken with Santa in the Visitor Centre Hall until December 24. Photos are included in the entry fee.

Adults (19 – 64 years) : $19 Regular, $21 Premium.

Child (4-12 years): $11.50 Regular, $13.75 Premium.

Child (under 3): Free

Youth (13 – 18 years): $14.50 Regular, $15.50 Premium.

Senior (65 years and up): $14.50 Regular, $15.50 Premium.

Premium Nights are December 7, 8, 14, 15, and 21 to 29.

Bright Nights Christmas Train in Stanley Park

Ride the train with your kids while watching three million beautiful, twinkling lights in Stanley Park. The Bright Nights Christmas Train in Stanley Park event starts on November 28, 2019 and runs until January 1, 2020. The 14-minute, nighttime train ride includes beautiful holiday displays, lights and live performers. All aboard!

Prices:

Adult (19-64 years): $12

Senior (65 years and over): $9

Youth (13-18 years): $9

Child (3-12 years): $8

Child (2 years and under): Free

Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge

The Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver will light up your night, if not your entire holiday season. Hundreds of thousands of lights throughout the park are sure to keep children and adults alike mesmerized. This event runs from November 22, 2019 to January 26, 2020, from 11:00am to 9:00pm. Try visiting the park on weekdays to avoid the longest lines.

Adult (17-64 years): $53.95

Senior (65+ years): $48.95

Student (17+ with ID): $39.95

Youth (13-16 years): $29.95

Child (6-12 years): $16.95

Kiddie (Under 6 years): Free

Christmas Glow in Abbotsford & Vancouver

Explore the Christmas Glow light gardens! Laugh and play amongst a display of up to a million lights. A children’s playground is available at the Christmas Glow to help keep your little ones entertained. First launched in 2017 near Vancouver, Christmas Glow has quickly become one of the world’s largest indoor Christamas events. 

Prices: 

Adult: $19.99 on Weekdays; $22.99 on Weekends & Holidays; $49.99 for Season Pass

Children & Seniors: $14.99 on Weekdays; $16.99 on Weekends & Holidays; $38.99 for Season Pass
